Naturist Boat Camping Areas in Central Florida
Despite how overcrowded and overdeveloped Central Florida has become, there are still some naturist camping areas around if you look hard enough. Because the Tampa-Orlando-Daytona corridor pretty much bisects the Central Florida area, there is not really anyplace more than an hour or so from one of these major population areas. Therefore, all of the naturist camping sites are by neccessity off the beaten path (not easily reached by car).
As is usually the case, you will have more success finding a good naturist area on weekdays rather than weekends - more so in Central Florida than in South or North Florida. However, the variety of places available make for some worthwhile naturist camping.
So far, I have mostly documented boating campsites. This is partly because sites which can only be reached by boat do a great job of "weeding out" the crowd, but also because I have several boats and enjoy camping with them. Also, other people are more likely to understand you wanting to go "au naturale" near the water than they might be in other places.
However, having said that, I am planning on doing more backpacking (maybe even some car camping), and will add more naturist areas as I find them.
