Tiger key is the western-most of the campsites shown in the Gazetteer. It is at the edge of the Everglades National Park. When the tide is out, the west side of the island has extensive mud flats and a substantial beach to walk along.

While camping on this island, I was once visited by a Park Ranger. Unable to dress before being seen, I simply greeted the ranger from the lawnchair where I sat reading. He wanted to check my camping permit, and said nothing about my nudity. When I apologized for not being ready for "company", he shrugged and said "Don't worry about that," as if it were nothing unusual.

The western side (Gulf of Mexico side) of the island has a number of usable campsites which offer more privacy than the 'main' site at the northern end of the island, which has deeper water - making the northern end more prone to motorboat traffic 'dropping in'.

Away from high tide, only shallow draft boats can approach the Gulf side campsites.

The North end of the island is more open and more problematic for naturist camping.
