Blackwater Creek is a tributary to the Wekiwa River. It is called Blackwater due to the high tannic acid content of the water. Motors are prohibited here (as well as impractical due to submerged logs). The current is fairly strong at normal water levels, and this keeps a lot of people from going up very far.
A campsite can be reached by launching at Wekiwa River Haven or elsewhere on the Wekiwa and traveling to the convergence of Blackwater Creek (Gazeteer Page 80, B2). Paddling upstream on Blackwater Creek about 45 minutes or so, you will come to a piece of high ground on the north bank. This is the end of an old railroad grade (80 B1).

This spot is suitable for one or two tents. This is an excellent naturist site on week days. Weekends will have some canoe traffic. Another area 15 minutes farther upstream is further back from the water, offering more privacy.A new launch has been established near the headwaters of Blackwater Creek where people can rent kayaks. On a recent (Mar '07) Saturday, all the kayak traffic had passed downstream of the camping area by 1 PM.
