Sweetwater was the name old-timers in the 'glades used for fresh water. Sweetwater Bay is located at the western edge of the Everglades sawgrass area. During times of normal-to-high water, the water flowing into the bay is fresh and keeps the saltwater pushed back. This makes the area around the chickee fully fresh most of the time. (One time I was there during a prolonged low water period, and the water at the chickee was brackish.)

A short distance east frim the chickee is a fantastic, firm sandy-bottomed, cool, swimming hole. Note how the stream narrows ahead. There's not a lot of boat traffic back here because of that.

Putting up a temporary Ham Radio antenna on the East platform.
